Seattle Girl
Twenty something Seattlite who would really like to feel like her life is (financially) on the right track by the time 30 rolls around…This blog is about my quest for financial freedom and stability.
I’ve lived in the Seattle area for almost all my life. I love being outside – camping, hiking, biking, snowboarding. I practice bikram yoga and sometimes try really hard to enjoy running. I live in an adorable house with my boyfriend and another couple (yay to saving money on rent!)
I graduated two years ago with a degree that I have not yet been able to use. A mini mountain of debt from student loans (I paid my way through school, working full time, but still had to take out some loans) and a real mountain of credit card debt from being in school and trying to pursue an international long distance relationship. Fourteen plane tickets will cause a lot of damage if you aren’t paying attention. A year and a half out of that relationship and one year into a really great one, I am still struggling to pay off my credit cards.
My boyfriend and I both love international travel, and I’d love to have the financial freedom to roam the world with him (on cash, not credit). In the long term, I’d like to compliment my undergraduate degree in International Environmental Studies with a graduate degree in Public Policy. I’d love to have a home or a condo in the city. I’d love to spend some time with him, living on the island. I’d like to be saving for my future, not paying for my past.
This is my “secret finance blogger photo” – photobooth is the best mac application everrrrrr.
I like your blog. I find it particularly interesting since your “twenty-something,” I’m 23. I feel you on the financial independence. I don’t have student loans, but I do have a a credit card bill that is a pain in the ass (fortunately no more than about $1,700) and I’m looking to be more financially independent from my mom. Graduate school is around the corner for me, in school psychology or counseling. We’ll see how that goes. Anyway, good luck with everything and I’ll definitely be viewing your site one in awhile!
I’m on the exact same page as you are. I’m also a “twenty-something” trying to get her financial life in order…it sure is a pain in the butt though
. Good luck on your journey! It’s nice to see other following the same path.
Yo, i have two things for you:
1) macs rule the nation. although pc’s aren’t that bad either, but only if you own both.
2) and more importantly, i have that EXACT same tattoo! it is on my chest, but equally as cool. haha…in fact, let me use photo booth to show you (hooray!). okay done. i don’t think many of my blogger fans or friends know about it, so consider yourself special

You graduated without a degree you were able to use?! That’s scary…
At least you got the education, right?
Anyway- I thought I would just leave you a quick note about how much I appreciate your blog. I’ve been a long time reader, and look forward to your posts. Congrats on the $10 you just made!
By the way, I am the author of http://www.financialnut.com; you may have seen it before. I’d love to get into your blogroll if you don’t mind!
At least consider it.
Thanks and keep it up!
